Berlin is a city with a lot of history. And what better way to view that history than From atop one of the many buildings or bridges that make up this great city. Here are 4 of the best views of the Berlin skyline.
The Siegessäule, or Victory Column, was built in 1873 to commemorate the Prussian victory in the Franco-Prussian war. Today, it stands 185 feet tall and offers amazing panoramic views of Berlin. It offers a stunning view of Berlin from the middle of the Tiergarten for a reasonable price.
This 1,207 foot (368m) tall television tower was built in 1969 by the German Democratic Republic and offers stunning 360 degree views of Berlin from its observation deck. Though a bit pricier, it does offer a variety of times to visit. My advice, go early, but watch the weather! Clouds can often cover the tower.
The roof terrace at the Reichstag Building
The Reichstag Building is home to the German parliament and was originally built in 1894. These days, it’s one of Berlin’s most popular tourist destinations—and for good reason. Not only is it free to enter, but it also features a beautiful glass dome with incredible views of Berlin. Be sure to register yourself ahead of time though by visiting the website (do this ahead of time).
The Kollhoff Tower Observation Deck (Panorama Point)
Located in Potsdamer Platz, this observation deck sits atop one of Berlin’s newest skyscrapers and offers sweeping views of central Berlin—including famous landmarks like Brandenburger Tor and Fernsehturm (the television tower). Fun Fact: The elevator is the fastest in Europe!
